RICHARD BARRETT

Chairman, Co-Founder

Richard is a highly successful entrepreneur in the real estate and renewable sectors.  Richard combines his acute real estate and project finance expertise with his passion for conservation and the natural environment. He has an in-depth knowledge of the Kyoto Protocol , Paris Agreement and subsequent COPs.

Richard is a double graduate in economics and law, holds a Masters Degree in Economics as well as being a Barrister.  He co-founded and owned 50% of a global real estate company employing over 1,000 professionals with operations in Ireland, UK, Spain, Sweden, Germany, Russia and China, where it was one of the leading foreign developers of commercial real estate, holding > US$ 2bn of assets.  He is also the founder of Bartra Capital, a privately-owned real estate and renewable energy company.

Richard was Chairman of a company specializing in sustainable technologies such as renewable energy, wind farms (including the world’s second largest offshore wind farm), CHP, grey water, ice bank storage, pellet burning plants and hydrogen.

Richard has set up several Investment Fund Management companies, including an RMB Fund in China and has acted as Angel investor in multiple start-ups.  He is co-founder of ZCS.

ROBERT OGILVY WATSON

Commercial Director, Co-Founder

After a 30-year career as a commercial lawyer with expertise in financial markets and the energy sector (including advising on the first nuclear new build in the UK in a generation), Robert teamed up with Richard to create ZCS and realise their shared vision.

Robert is a graduate in law from London University and is qualified as a solicitor in England & Wales, and in Hong Kong.  He is a former board member and head of corporate at the global law firm Ashurst LLP, as well as a former partner of the elite London law firm Macfarlanes LLP.  Robert is a former secretary to the London Takeover Panel.

Robert has an in-depth knowledge of international climate regulation and ESG requirements which apply to international corporations.  He is the principal of a boutique law firm advising on shareholder activism, corporate and securities laws.

Robert was born in Singapore, set up the Ashurst Hong Kong office and has worked in many international jurisdictions, particularly in Asia.   He is co-founder of ZCS.

ANTHONY MILLS

Environmental Consultant

Anthony is the founder and Chairperson of C4 EcoSolutions. Anthony’s mission is to facilitate investment in ecosystem restoration and regenerative agriculture to address the biodiversity and climate change crises facing the planet. The focus of his career has been to catalyse such investments within the public and private sector.

Anthony is also an Extraordinary Professor in the Department of Soil Science, Stellenbosch University, where he undertakes primary research on soil chemistry and ecology. Anthony’s academic qualifications include a BSc Zoology (University of Cape Town), MSc Environmental Geochemistry (University of Cape Town), an MPhil in Environment and Development (University of Cambridge) and a PhD in Soil Science (Stellenbosch University). Anthony regularly publishes in the peer-reviewed academic literature on a wide range of topics, including soil chemistry, ecology, ecosystem restoration, climate change adaptation and carbon sequestration.
